2019 Mayors Volunteer Awards
Burlington Mayor Shane McCampbell and West Burlington Mayor Hans Trousil present the 2019 Mayor's’ Volunteer Recognition Awards to nominees and winners.
In the area of Education, Mr. Kent Lewis was nominated for his volunteerism at Edward Stone Middle School, facilitating the Drama Club in the After School PIECES Program.
In the Terrific Teen category, Burlington High School had two nominees, Elijah Kirby and Josef Krieger-Coen, who have volunteered as Club M mentors to elementary students from 2016 to 2019.
Mr. Dean Vickstrom was the overall winner of the Mayors Volunteer Recognition Award in the Education category. Mr. Vickstrom set himself apart from other nominees as he has served for several years on the BCSD school board, volunteers at the Burlington Innovative Learning Academy (BILA), mentors during Burlington High School’s Saturday School, as well as his efforts in supporting Burlington High School students as they find their way to livable wages and benefits through Union Apprenticeship Programs.
